I rapporti tra istituzioni religiose femminili, mecenatismo musicale e contesto urbano sono da tempo riconosciuti e ampiamente studiati. Nonostante ciò si è prestata scarsa attenzione alla situazione siciliana, in particolare alla città di Palermo. Il contributo intende sottolineare il ruolo che la produzione musicale riuscì a giocare nella proiezione concreta e metaforica delle voci delle donne nel mondo e nella società esterni. Ciò valeva sia per le istituzioni che si distinguevano per la clausura delle monache che ospitavano, sia per i conventi che sfidavano regole e regolamenti. Bourgeois Women and the Question of Divorce in Finland in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries

This article explores perceptions and actions of Finnish upper-middle-class women with regard to divorce in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Divorce was discussed in the periodicals of bourgeois women’s associations and later in Finnish Parliament, in which several leading figures of the bourgeois women’s associations were elected as members from 1907 onwards. Compared to other issues related to marriage and its legislation, divorce was not an especially important question for bourgeois women, but a tool to promote other issues. Women-translators in Russia

The paper considers the history of women’s involvement in translation in Russia. The emphasis is laid on social issues of women translators’ work. The main problems discussed are as follows: How have women contributed to social and literary processes? To what extent were translational activities of women different and/or separate from those of men? Women participated in all major social processes in Russian and Soviet history. From the eighteenth century onwards to the present day, they have been involved in translational work and other types of social-systemic transfer (primarily from the West). Women played their role of translators in the same spheres where men did.

Since the early 1990’s, the Italian women’s historian Angela Groppi suggested that the issue of women’s work could be improved, asking a number of new questions.
